Freelance work in the workgroup Forensic Psychology (Psychologist)

The workgroup Forensic Psychology, founded by Prof. Dr. Helmut Kury, is involved in prediction of recidivism. The group provides psychological expertise on prediction of future criminal behavior of sexual and violent offenders and other criminals.

Professional experience: In the course of this activity, I have visited several prisons, interviewed criminals of various crime groups and also talked to advisers and therapists. Due to this I could gain more experiences in dealing even with very serious criminal offenders and could get a deeper insight in the work of advisers and therapists. The use of different psychological test is mandatory.

Freelance project (Psychologist, Certified Engineer)

Together with a friend of mine - and business partner today - I developed an Internet portal. For all German towns and counties we generated virtual pin boards where customers can promote their websites and announce events.

Professional experience: The implementation of the complex concept proved to be more difficult than initially thought. Many technical hurdles had to be taken and know-how to be acquired. My psychological as well as technical knowledge and abilities were put to a challenge from time to time. Due to this job I was pushed to my limits sometimes... a limit experience.

Teaching activities in adult education from 08.2005 to 09.2006 (Psychologist)

In the context of adult education I planned and conducted seminars on different psychological concepts. For diagnostic and consulting purposes I conducted one-to-one interviews and applied different psychological tests. Coaching as a supporting step and crisis interventions were sometimes necessary.

Professional experience: The teaching activities put my personality and my abilities fully to display. I could apply many psychological concepts and experiment with different media. The planning and conducting of seminars caused no trouble and gave me much pleasure.

Research and education from 08.2005 to 09.2006 (Psychologist)

The Max Planck Institute for Criminal Law does fundamental legal and criminological research. In the Department of Criminology, I cooperated in various research projects. As part of the preparation for my dissertation, I also prepared a research request... without success, unfortunately.

Professional experience: The activity in research and education sharpened my intellectual abilities and strengthened my interest in science. A bitter experience was that my dissertation was not supported financially.

Freelance activities from 02.1996 to 09.1999 (Certified Engineer)

The BAKRONA AG is engaged mainly in the validation of technical measurement devices in chemical industries. Besides that it is also involved in the planning of measurement setups and collecting data for central visualization in defined industrial areas. As a freelancer I drew technical electrical wiring diagrams with AutoCAD.

Professional experience: I worked mainly at my own office at home. With my contractor I stayed in contact via internet and phone. The documents were exchanged via internet. Due to this I was temporally and locally independent. From time to time I had to travel to Basel to attend an important meeting. This freelance work can be considered to be a modern method of cooperative telecommunication. Due to my job as a freelancer I could organize my time which allowed me to prepare for my university-entrance diploma. This eventually offered me the chance to attend university.

Project management from 08.1987 to 01.1996 (Certified Engineer)

The NETZHAMMER AG is engaged in the monitoring and controlling of different devices in chemical plants. The main aspect is the automation of these plants through programmable logical controllers (PLC), which steer, regulate and control chemical processes. My job as a project manager was not only to put together interdisciplinary teams but also to plan and manage different projects.

This activity was interrupted twice for a total of 36 months abroad (04.1990 - 12.1991 and 10.1993 - 12.1994).Pfeil

Professional experience: The given room to act gave me lots of opportunities to fully unfold my personality as well as to enlarge my knowledge. My strong organizational and communication skills were essential for the successful management of major projects. They even grew stronger.

Quality management from 04.1984 to 08.1985 (Technician)

The FRANKE produces components for large kitchens and canteens. In the department of electronics devices like stoves and cookers are manufactured in series production. My job as a technician was to control quality and manufacture custom-made products.

Professional experience: Due to the "sandwich"- position as a quality controller, I faced many conflicts between the product management and staff. This job showed me that it is essential to have good social and communication skills. With these, conflict potential can be reduced and existing conflicts can be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.
